Vision, mission and aims of the Department of Biotechnology

Vision:

The Faculty of Science at the University of Anbar continuously strives to develop its various academic programs with the aim of raising the level of educational research and preparing researchers who possess diverse knowledge skills and an excellent scientific background to meet the practical challenges and future requirements of the scientific and academic reality by achieving international standards to ensure academic reliability. In line with the general vision of the University of Anbar ,

 the Department of Biotechnology has relied since its establishment on updated programs and modern curricula to achieve quality university education and realize the vision of the college and the university to reach international standards for quality university education and achieve academic reliability.

Mission: 

To guide the department's staff to adopt quality standards in the continuous improvement of higher education and research with the aim of improving the performance of both staff and students and advancing the teaching of biotechnology concepts scientifically and practically to achieve a level of confidence in graduates in terms of knowledge and experience that qualifies them for creativity in their field through academic accreditation of programs to ABET standards .

 Therefore, the Department of Biotechnology seeks to prepare specialized scientific cadres who possess modern knowledge and skills in the field of biotechnology and are able to employ this knowledge in the service of society through the fields of medicine, agriculture, industry, and the environment. The department is also committed to providing a stimulating educational and research environment that promotes scientific creativity and critical thinking and contributes to the development of applied scientific research in accordance with international academic and ethical standards.

Aims:

1-    Improving the reality of academic biotechnology education and developing learning program outcomes for the Faculty of Science within the framework of ABET standards.                                                                                         

2-    Spread a culture of quality and promote its acceptance in all departments of the College of Science at all levels and among all stakeholders, including leaders, teachers, staff, and students.

3- Develop and improve internal academic and administrative systems and curricula to evaluate the results of scientific programs, prepare appropriate models and work fundamentals for this purpose, and enhance scientific cooperation with national and international universities and research centers to exchange knowledge and experiences in a manner that ensures the achievement of academic requirements and standards (ABET).

4- Activate coordination between college departments in accordance with a unified vision to achieve communication in terms of joint scientific research, curriculum integration, and the development and improvement of teaching methods.

5- Activating coordination between the college departments and the labor sector for the purpose of identifying the knowledge and skills that need to be developed in line with the challenges and requirements of the local labor market and in a manner that ensures the improvement of the quality of education.

6- Applying and developing the theoretical and practical courses and curricula set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

7- Supplying state ministries with competent scientific cadres in various scientific specializations, such as medical, health, industrial, and agricultural technologies, as well as private sector companies, and providing scientific and consulting services.

8-    Developing research laboratories by supplying them with modern laboratory equipment and materials.

9- Organizing scientific courses, seminars, and workshops in the field of modern biotechnology and providing high-quality education that combines theory and practice using the latest means.
