Vision

 The Department is a pioneer and leader in the field of various earth sciences disciplines and applications and the promotion of geological culture to contribute to the development and building of the knowledge society.

Mission

 Promote basic concepts in disciplines of Earth sciences, improve skills and support creativity in a high-quality study and research environment in order to develop competent competencies that are competitive and meet the needs of the community in the optimal use of Iraq's natural resources in order to balance investment with preserving the integrity of the environment and serving the community.

Aims

·        Achieving excellence and quality in geoscience education in undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

·        Providing an attractive environment for students and teachers to study and work in the department.

·        Accomplish applied research in various fields of Earth sciences in order to serve the country's development plans.

·        Keeping abreast of scientific developments in different branches of knowledge and employing them in Earth sciences and familiarizing students with them.

·        Development of relations with State institutions and the private sector relevant to geoscience disciplines to provide employment opportunities for graduates.

·        Providing scientific consultations related to Earth sciences to various institutions and companies.
