In line with its commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment in science laboratories, the Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Science held an important scientific symposium entitled "Modern Techniques for Detecting and Preventing Chemical and Biological Hazards in Science Laboratories."
The symposium was held on Monday, April 28, 2025, in the college's Ibn Sina Hall. It was attended by professors, researchers, technicians, students, and staff from the college's various science laboratories.
The symposium included two valuable lectures delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Riyad Shaheen and Assistant Lecturer Hanan Khamis Khalaf. The lecturers reviewed the latest technologies and scientific methods available for early detection of potential chemical and biological hazards in laboratories, in addition to reviewing best practices and preventive measures to ensure the safety of workers and the environment within these vital facilities.
The lectures covered in detail modern sensors, rapid analysis techniques for hazardous materials, advanced sterilization and disinfection methods, and the importance of implementing occupational safety protocols and effective risk management.
