Between the Precision of Numbers and the Beauty of Art: "Department of Mathematics start Its Cultural Week 2026"

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, and in the presence of the Assist. Deans for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, along with distinguished faculty members and a large student audience, the activities of the "Mathematics Department Cultural Week 2026" on Monday, April 20, 2026. The event created a unique creative atmosphere that blended the rigor of mathematics with artistic and cultural expression.

The opening began with the inauguration of the "Exhibition of Models and Artistic Works", held across the college’s corridors and courtyards. The exhibition showcased exceptional student talents in transforming complex mathematical theories and equations into tangible artistic creations. The dean praised these efforts, emphasizing that mathematics is not merely abstract equations but a universal language of beauty.

At Ibn Sina Hall, and in the presence of the college leadership, the first day featured an engaging scientific seminar exploring the depths of the mathematical constant **π (Pi)**. The seminar was delivered by:

* Asst. Lect. Mustafa Akram Saeed
and moderated by Dr. Hamad Mohammed Saleh.

The speakers highlighted the remarkable applications of this constant in everyday life and modern technology, receiving strong engagement and appreciation from the audience.

Recognizing that building character is as important as building knowledge, the day also included an inspiring guidance lecture entitled "The Path to Success," delivered by Associate Professor (Retired) Dr. Iyad Abdul Hamid Salibi, with contributions from Assit. Lect. Safwat Abdul Qadir Hamad and Asst. Lect. Ali Kadhim Yaqoub and moderated by Dr. Rifaat Saad Abdul Jabbar. The lecture focused on equipping students with strategies for academic excellence and personal development, reflecting the college's educational mission.

The first day concluded with scientific competitions and various cultural activities that fostered a spirit of positive competition among students. Students of the Mathematics Department won the competition, adding an atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy to the event and setting the tone for a vibrant and creative cultural week.
