Continuing Its Cultural Week Activities: "Department of Biology Highlights Environmental Challenges and Sustainable Development Applications"
The activities of the Cultural Week of the Department of Biology continued into its second day in a distinguished scientific atmosphere. This day, held on Monday, April 20, 2026, was dedicated to "environmental science and pollution," with wide participation from students and faculty members.
The program featured an exhibition of scientific models illustrating major environmental challenges affecting humans and living organisms, along with awareness posters addressing various topics in ecology and pollution. These activities aimed to enhance scientific awareness and connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The event also included demonstrations of environmental instruments used to measure different types of pollutants, adding an interactive dimension to the activities.
The event included a valuable scientific lecture delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hassan, who discussed the impact of plastic pollution on biological functions in living organisms and the safe use of certain plastic compounds.
In addition, Dr. Yasser Mohsen Yousif presented a lecture on **bioremediation**, highlighting the use of living organisms to treat different types of pollutants as an environmentally friendly approach aligned with the principles of sustainable development.
This activity is part of a series of events aimed at developing students’ scientific culture and encouraging them to engage in research and innovation across various fields of life sciences.
