This study aimed to evaluate the impact of chemical treatment stresses (such as disinfectants and antibiotics) on multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli isolates obtained from urinary tract infection patients in Ramadi hospitals. The results revealed that disinfectants like Dettol and OPA Plus significantly altered bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, while MIC assays showed variable responses depending on the treatment type. Molecular analysis (qPCR) demonstrated clear changes in the expression of virulence genes (fimH, hlyA, luxS) before and after chemical stress exposure, indicating a potential role of these stresses in either enhancing or suppressing pathogenic traits. These findings highlight the importance of monitoring such bacterial behaviors to develop more effective therapeutic strategies against MDR UPEC isolates.
