The Career Development and Employment Unit at the College of Science organized a scientific workshop entitled “Free Radicals and Antioxidants” on Thursday, 11 December 2025, in the Ibn Sina Hall of the college. The workshop was delivered by **Professor Dr. Rashid Mohammed Rashid**, who provided a comprehensive and detailed explanation of the significance of this topic in the fields of health and biology.
The workshop addressed several key themes, most notably the concept of free radicals. It included an introduction to "free radicals", their formation within the human body, their harmful effects on cells and DNA, and their role in the development of many chronic diseases. In addition, the workshop highlighted the role of antioxidants and their practical importance by reviewing dietary sources rich in antioxidants and emphasizing the necessity of incorporating them into the daily diet to maintain health and prevent disease.
The workshop was attended by faculty members and students of the college, during which an open discussion and question-and-answer session took place, enriching the scientific content and underscoring the importance of such activities in raising health and scientific awareness among staff and students.
