International Research Achievement: "College of Science Researcher Contributes to Revealing the Protective Role of Pomegranate Juice Against Synthetic Colorant Damage in a Q1 Journal Publication"

As a culmination of joint Arab scientific collaboration and a testament to the high quality of academic research, the University of Anbar has achieved notable international recognition through the participation of Assist. Prof. Dr. Rashid Mohammed Rashid, a faculty member at the College of Science – Department of Biology. He contributed to an international research team comprising distinguished researchers from Northern Border University (Saudi Arabia) and Minia University (Egypt).

This collaboration resulted in the publication of a rigorous and innovative study in a leading international journal entitled
“Ameliorative potential of pomegranate juice against synthetic colorant (E124)-induced biochemical and histopathological changes in the rat brain and testes.”

The study was published in the prestigious journal *Food Chemistry: Molecular Sciences*, issued by Elsevier. The journal is ranked within the first quartile (Q1) globally, reflecting its high academic impact, with an Impact Factor of "4.7 and a CiteScore of 10.7".

The research addresses a critical topic directly related to human health, presenting a detailed scientific analysis of the protective role of pomegranate juice in mitigating oxidative stress and the biochemical and histopathological damage caused by synthetic food colorants—specifically E124—on sensitive tissues such as the brain and reproductive organs.

This achievement highlights the significance of applied research in the fields of animal physiology and food safety and reaffirms the College of Science’s commitment to advancing impactful scientific research. It also underscores the college's strategic direction toward fostering international collaboration to deliver scientific solutions that serve society and enhance the global ranking of the university.

The Deanship of the College of Science extends its congratulations to Assist. Prof. Dr. Rashid Mohammed Rashid on this outstanding accomplishment, wishing him and all researchers continued success and excellence in scientific research.
