A Scientific Seminar at the College of Science Entitled "Chemistry Explains the Secrets of Happiness and Energy in the Brain"
Blending science with real-life understanding, and within the university’s efforts to connect academic disciplines with human psychological and behavioral aspects, the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “The Chemistry of Happiness and Brain Energy - A Scientific Interpretation of Human Emotions and Behavior.” The event was held on Monday, March 30, 2026, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour.
The workshop took place at Ibn Sina Hall and witnessed remarkable attendance from faculty members, students, and interested participants. The sessions focused on uncovering the complex chemical processes occurring within the human brain and how neurotransmitters and hormones regulate feelings of satisfaction, happiness, and daily energy levels.
The workshop was delivered by a distinguished group of specialized professors, including:
Prof. Dr. Hamid Hussein Ali
Prof. Dr. Khalid Farouq Abdul Ghafour
Assist. Lect. Hadeel Jubair Mayouf
During the event, the dean praised the workshop’s topic and scientific approach, emphasizing that the College of Science continuously supports activities that promote scientific awareness and enhance the intellectual development of students and researchers. He also highlighted the vital role of biochemistry in understanding complex human phenomena.
The workshop aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the biochemical system, demonstrating that emotions are not merely abstract experiences but rather chemical reactions that can be understood and guided to improve quality of life and mental well-being.
