A comprehensive awareness and educational campaign entitled “Stray Dogs: Health Risks and Prevention Methods.”

in line with its role in community service and its commitment to the safety of students and staff, the College of Science organized on Sunday, April 6, 2026, a comprehensive awareness and educational campaign entitled “Stray Dogs: Health Risks and Prevention Methods.” The campaign included a scientific lecture and the distribution of informational posters across various departments of the college.

The campaign was prepared and delivered by a group of specialized academics and researchers, including:

* Assist. Prof. Dr. Mayada Abdullah Sheehan
* Assist. Lect. Doaa Ahmed Ibrahim
* Assist. Lec. Abdul Basit Mohammed Jasim
* Researcher Hanan Yousif Hammadi

The campaign presented a comprehensive scientific overview of the challenges posed by stray dogs in urban and university environments. It addressed several key aspects:

Health Risks: Highlighting zoonotic diseases that may be transmitted to humans, particularly rabies, in addition to parasitic and dermatological infections.
Preventive Measures: Educating participants on appropriate actions in case of attacks or bites and safe practices when encountering stray animals.
Environmental Impact: Discussing the effects of stray dogs on environmental balance and public hygiene, along with scientific proposals to reduce their spread while ensuring public safety.

The campaign also featured the distribution of visually simplified awareness posters designed to effectively reach a wide audience of students. The lecture was accompanied by discussions on the role of relevant institutions in addressing this issue and ensuring a safe, risk-free environment.
