In a strategic step aimed at advancing the research landscape and supporting scholars, and with the presence and participation of the president of the University of Anbar, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nada, the College of Science organized on Sunday, March 29, 2026, a high-level scientific seminar entitled “From Idea to Funding: How to Benefit from TWAS Research Programs.” The seminar was held at Ibn Sina Hall in the College.
The seminar was delivered by the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, targeting a wide and important audience that included faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students from both within and outside the college, in addition to representatives from research centers affiliated with the university.
The seminar was built on the premise that financial support is a fundamental pillar in advancing scientific research. The Dean emphasized that access to funding through prestigious international programs such as "The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)" enables researchers to utilize advanced technologies, access high-quality materials and references, and expand opportunities for collaboration with global research institutions.
The seminar further highlighted that supporting published research contributes directly to improving research quality, enhancing academic and societal impact, increasing innovation, and fostering scientific creativity. It also plays a key role in improving university rankings at both local and international levels, as well as addressing societal challenges through high-quality applied research.
The event witnessed exceptional engagement, particularly through the valuable participation of the university president, who enriched the session with insightful scientific contributions and strategic guidance that were highly appreciated by attendees. He emphasized that investing in scientific research is not a luxury but a strategic necessity for building a strong knowledge-based future and achieving sustainable development, stressing that funding research is essential to driving scientific progress and motivating researchers toward excellence.
