Department of Applied Geology Organizes Field Trip for Students to Hit Area
In line with the principle of “learning through application” and in accordance with rigorous scientific curricula, the Department of Applied Geology at the College of Science organized a scientific field trip on Monday, April 13, 2026, for second-year students to the "Hit region," known for its rich geological diversity and unique rock outcrops.
The students were accompanied by a group of specialized and experienced faculty members. The field program included intensive training on modern field techniques used in studying rock outcrops and identifying geological formations within the study area.
The trip focused on several key educational aspects, including:
Direct Observation: Enabling students to examine rock outcrops with the naked eye and use standard geological field tools.
Concept Reinforcement: Linking theoretical knowledge acquired in classrooms with the complex geological realities observed in the field.
Formation Analysis: Studying the physical and chemical characteristics of geological formations in the Hit area and classifying them scientifically.
Such field activities are part of the strategic plan of the College of Science, supported by the department leadership, to prepare a new generation of geologists capable of addressing field challenges efficiently. These initiatives aim to equip students with the practical skills required for academic, petroleum, and construction-related careers.
