Dean of the College of Science Meets Postgraduate Students in a Comprehensive Orientation Session

As part of the College’s continuous and direct support for the advancement of scientific research, the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul-Ghafoor, met on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, with postgraduate students enrolled in the Master’s and PhD programs for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The meeting was attended by the Assist. Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, Assist. Professor Dr. Nabil Fawzi Lutfi , and the Officer of the Postgraduate Studies Unit, Assist. Lecturer Muhannad Abdul Wahab Noon. At the outset, the session focused on identifying the challenges and obstacles that postgraduate students may encounter during their research phases, and on discussing proposed solutions to overcome these challenges in order to ensure smooth and efficient research progress.

Following an open dialogue session, the meeting transitioned into intensive educational lectures , during which **two mandatory orientation lectures** were delivered as a core requirement for postgraduate degree completion:

The first lecture, delivered by Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul-Ghafoor , was entitled “Responsibilities of Postgraduate Students: Rights, Duties, and Research Ethics.”The Dean emphasized the significant responsibility borne by postgraduate students and the importance of adhering to research ethics. He also highlighted proper mechanisms for selecting research projects to ensure originality and quality, and encouraged students to target publication in high-impact international journals to enhance the university’s academic standing.

The second lecture** was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nabil Fawzi Lutfi, Assistant Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, and addressed the mechanisms of grading distribution and research selection for postgraduate studies, as well as the **regulations of the Postgraduate Student Disciplinary Law. The lecture aimed to familiarize students with the legal and procedural framework governing their academic journey and to ensure transparency in evaluation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Dean reaffirmed the College’s commitment to providing all forms of support and high-quality supervision to its postgraduate students, emphasizing that their success represents the true indicator of excellence for both the College and the University.
