Training Course Entitled “Intellectual Integrity in Research, Scientific Plagiarism, Predatory Publishing, and Academic Misconduct”
The College of Science, in coordination with the Legal Affairs Department at the University Presidency, concluded a training course entitled “Intellectual Integrity in Research, Scientific Plagiarism, Predatory Publishing, and Academic Misconduct” on Wednesday, 29 October 2025. The course was held at Jaber Ibn Hayyan Hall.
The course was delivered by Assist. Lecturer Ammar Rahim Salim, who addressed a range of important topics related to intellectual integrity and academic honesty. He explained the fundamental principles that researchers must adhere to when preparing scientific research in order to ensure originality and credibility. The lecturer also discussed the phenomenon of academic misconduct and unlawful plagiarism, highlighting their negative impact on the quality of scientific research and the reputation of academic institutions. In addition, he addressed predatory publishing, explaining how to identify non-recognized journals and distinguish them from reputable scholarly journals.
The lecture further covered the legal framework governing intellectual property and authors’ rights within the university, presenting applied cases that demonstrate the serious consequences of negligence in this area and emphasizing the importance of adhering to proper procedures in citation and referencing.
