College of Science Council Holds Its Fifth Session to Discuss Final Examination Preparations and the Establishment of New Scientific Units

The Council of the College of Science held its fifth regular session of the current academic year on Sunday, April 26, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, with the attendance of all council members.

At the outset of the session, the Dean welcomed the attendees and commended the efforts exerted by the scientific departments in completing academic curricula and fulfilling educational requirements. The meeting addressed a number of administrative and scientific matters listed on the agenda, foremost among them the logistical and technical preparations for the final examinations. In this regard, the Dean emphasized the necessity of preparing examination halls and providing all essential requirements to ensure an optimal examination environment for students.

The Council also discussed a proposal for the establishment of a "Seismic Monitoring Unit" within the college as part of the college's strategic plan to expand specialized research centers and scientific units that serve the community and contribute to providing accurate scientific studies and data in this vital field.

With regard to scientific research and academic development, the Council reviewed a number of academic promotion files for faculty members after fulfilling the required research and legal criteria, reaffirming the Deanship’s continuous support for academic staff in their scholarly advancement.

The session concluded with discussions on several matters related to postgraduate and undergraduate students, followed by the adoption of the necessary decisions and recommendations concerning the issues presented, in accordance with prevailing university regulations and instructions.
