Sedimentology and mineralogy of quarry sediments in Rahaleyah area west of Al- Razzaza lake
Aim of study conduct a detailed sedimentological study of the quarries in the Al-Rahaliyah area, including (Mineral composition, Chemical composition, and texture). detection of the environmental influence of the quarries building materials and analysis of heavy and light minerals in study area.
The present study represent study the sedimentology of Al-Rahaliyah quarries for building materials in Al-Anbar Governorate. The sediments under study composed from mixture of Quaternary Deposits, these sediments composed from mixture of gravel, sand, silt, and clay, and classify as muddy sandy gravel, and sandy gravel. The depositional environment in which the sediments of Al-Rahaliyah area were formed was the environment of floodplains and river terraces, and these were generated mainly through floods and torrents that occur in the seasonal valleys in the study area. The gravel of Al-Rahaliyah composed from carbonate lithology, and the texture of these gravel were: pebble size (4-64mm), plated and bladed form, and rounded (4.2, and subdiscoidal spherisity (2.3). The Geomorphologically of the study area consists to group of valleys whose orientation was from west to east, with a degree of inclination to the south and north. The local names of these valleys were: Wadi Al-Mejara, Wadi Thealba, and Wadi Al-Rodha.
