The Code of Life Comes Alive at the College of Science: "An Exceptional Festival Celebrating World DNA Day under the Patronage of the University President"

In a major scientific and creative event, the courtyards and halls of the College of Science were transformed into a vibrant hub of innovation on Thursday morning in celebration of **World DNA Day**.

This exceptional festival was held under the patronage of the President of the University of Anbar, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nada, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, with direct coordination from the Head of the Department of Biology.

A distinctive feature of this scientific carnival was that all exhibits, models, and activities were designed and produced by third-year (evening study) students of the Department of Biology, under the supervision of Dr. Maha Rabah Al-Gharib. The students demonstrated that scientific passion transcends time constraints, presenting displays that impressed all attendees.

The event featured highly interactive activities, including an exhibition of scientific models and posters illustrating the "double helix structure" and the fundamentals of genetic engineering through innovative artistic approaches. A forensic science (CSI) corner provided an immersive experience simulating crime scene investigations, where students demonstrated the application of "DNA fingerprinting" in solving crimes and identifying individuals.

The festival also included a thematic theatrical performance presented by students, creatively linking science with society and highlighting the importance of genetic discoveries in improving human life. Additionally, an interactive video—designed and produced by the students—showcased the structure and biological functions of DNA using advanced technological methods, receiving strong appreciation for its integration of digital media with biological sciences.

As part of the program, Ibn Sina Hall hosted a scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Waleed Khalid Mohammed on the "human genome and future applications of biotechnology," followed by active scientific discussions with attendees.

During his tour of the festival, the University President praised the students’ exceptional talents and capabilities. He emphasized that this success reflects the University’s continuous support for applied student projects and its commitment to fostering an environment that encourages innovation. In recognition of these efforts, he directed the awarding of **certificates of appreciation** to the participating third-year students, as well as **letters of appreciation** to the organizing and supervising committees for their outstanding work.

At the conclusion of the festival, the College Deanship extended its sincere gratitude to Dr. Maha Rabah Al-Gharib, the Head of the Department of Biology, and all participating students and organizing teams for their dedication in delivering an event that reflects the prestige and academic standing of the College of Science and the University of Anbar.
