Scientific lecture on the occasion of the International Day for Biodiversity
The Department of Applied Geology at the College of Science held a scientific lecture on Sunday, October 6, 2024, on the occasion of the International Day for Geodiversity. The lecture was Gived by Professor Dr. Abdul Saleh Al-Fayyadh, which dealt with the unique geological diversity in Anbar Governorate, specifically in the Western Desert. The lecture was held in Jabir bin Hayyan Hall, and was attended by a large number of professors and students of the college and those interested in earth sciences and geology. During his lecture, Dr. Al-Fayyadh reviewed the importance of geological diversity in the region, and the natural resources inherent in it. He also touched on the historical and geographical aspects that contributed to the formation of this unique diversity, the most important of which are the types of rocks and minerals found in the region, the unique geological formations, and the challenges facing the study of this diversity. He also stressed the importance of raising awareness of the importance of geological diversity and its role in sustainable development.
