In an important step to raise students' awareness of the dangers of drugs, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Science held an awareness play entitled "The Dangers of Addiction" as part of the Anti-Drug Week on Sunday, December 1, 2024, in Jabir Bin Hayyan Hall. The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College, the Dean's assistants, and department heads, in addition to a large number of evening studies students.
The play was presented by a group of students, and dealt in a simple and effective manner with the negative effects of addiction on the individual and society, and the preventive methods to reduce this phenomenon. The play was distinguished by its creative and purposeful style, as it used simple language and realistic situations to convey the message to the audience.
The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdel Ghafour, praised the efforts made by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit and the students participating in preparing and holding this play, stressing the importance of such events in raising students' awareness of the dangers of addiction and urging them to follow a healthy and sound lifestyle.
In turn, Dr. Wajdan Ahmed Ali, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, stressed the importance of the role of theatre in conveying awareness messages in an attractive and influential way, noting that this play comes within a series of activities organised by the unit with the aim of enhancing students’ awareness of psychological and social issues.
