As part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Science organized an educational awareness seminar entitled "Chemical Safety and Security in University Laboratories" on Tuesday 3/12/2024 to raise awareness of the importance of adhering to safety standards within laboratories, and creating a safe environment for scientific research and practical experiments.
The seminar was delivered by: M.Sc. Istibraq Wafiq, Lecturer. Hajar Shihab Hamad, student Abdul Razzaq Salem Daoud, and student Aya Yasser Shamkhi from the fourth stage - Department of Chemistry.
The lecturers gave a comprehensive presentation on the most important rules and procedures that must be followed to ensure chemical safety, highlighting the risks that may result from the incorrect use of chemicals, and how to deal with emergency incidents within university laboratories.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Yusra Mahmoud Hammadi, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Science, who emphasized during the opening of the seminar the importance of the topic of chemical safety, as it constitutes an essential element for maintaining the health and safety of workers and students in university laboratories. She also praised the students’ participation in presenting the symposium’s topics, which reflects the spirit of initiative and leadership that the Global Entrepreneurship Week seeks to promote among university youth.
