This study included the preparation of mesoporous silica using a chemical source and a natural source. The mesoporous silica (prepared by both methods) was characterized using FTIR, FESEM, XRD and TGA techniques. This study aims to remove heavy metal ions (cobalt, nickel and zinc ions) present in the wastewater of Ramadi city, which is a major concern due to its increasing levels in aquatic environments. The highly hazardous heavy metals have the ability to accumulate in the human body by passing through the food chain. The experimental data (Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin) were studied and it was concluded that the linear relationship (Langmuir and Freundlich) curve models are the most suitable for the removal of cobalt, nickel and zinc ions. Analytical applications were carried out using the prepared mesoporous silica, such as the concentration method to study the removal of low concentrations of cobalt, nickel and zinc ions using atomic absorption spectroscopy
