As part of its commitment to providing a safe environment for students and affiliates, the College of Science, in cooperation with the Civil Defense Division's Diwan Affairs Department and in coordination with the Civil Defense Directorate, organized a training workshop and field practice on combating and avoiding fire hazards.
The workshop was moderated by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mishal Mohammed, and delivered by Mr. Muhannad Ibrahim Hussein, Head of the Civil Defense Division, and Mr. Ziad Tariq Fakhri, an employee in the Civil Defense Division.
The workshop was held in Jaber Bin Hayyan Hall on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, and witnessed a significant attendance of students, faculty, and affiliates.
The workshop included theoretical and practical sessions. The theoretical part introduced the different types of fire extinguishers, explained how each type works, and highlighted the importance of using the appropriate type for the appropriate fire.
The practical part trained attendees on how to use fire extinguishers correctly and safely through practical experiments simulating various fire situations. This workshop aims to raise awareness among students and faculty members about the dangers of fire and how to deal with them, train attendees on the proper and safe use of fire extinguishers, and enhance cooperation between the college and the Civil Defense Directorate in the field of public safety.
