The aim of this study is Significant elevation in oxidative stress markers was observed in IBS patients compared to healthy controls, indicated by increased MDA levels and decreased levels of SOD, CAT, and TAOC (p < 0.0001). No significant association was found between age or Body Mass Index (BMI) and the occurrence of IBS (p>0.05). Hormonal alterations included a marked decrease in serotonin levels, a significant increase in cholecystokinin (CCK), and reduced selenium levels in IBS patients versus controls (p < 0.05). Strong correlations among biomarkers were observed, most notably a significant inverse relationship between CAT and MDA (r = -0.764, p < 0.001). Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis demonstrated high diagnostic accuracy of the studied biomarkers, reinforcing their potential clinical utility. The results highlight a potential role of oxidative stress and hormonal imbalances (particularly serotonin and CCK) in the pathophysiology of IBS, suggesting their possible application in diagnosis and therapeutic strategies.
