The aims of this study are to use tea leaf waste as an environmentally friendly source for the manufacture of activated carbon, promoting the principles of green chemistry. This activated carbon was used to manufacture a nanocomposite by integrating it with magnesium oxide nanoparticles. These manufactured compounds were characterized by a large surface area and high efficiency in adsorption of heavy metal ions from their aqueous solutions when used as the stationary phase in column chromatography, making them suitable for water treatment and purification. These compounds were characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, BET, and SEM techniques.
