“College of Science Hosts Workshop on AI Integration with ImageJ for Research Advancement”

In line with the University Presidency’s vision for digital transformation and the enhanced use of artificial intelligence (AI) in scientific research, the College of Science, in collaboration with the Renewable Energy Research Center, organized a specialized workshop on Tuesday, 30 September 2025 at Ibn Sina Hall entitled:

“Accelerating Discovery: A Strategic Workshop on Integrating AI into the ImageJ Ecosystem for Scientific Research.”
The workshop focused on methods of integrating AI technologies with the ImageJ platform, widely used for scientific image analysis, with the aim of advancing visual data processing and accelerating research workflows. Particular emphasis was given to applications in biology, medicine, materials science, and other fields that rely heavily on image-based analysis.
The workshop was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Rabah Nouri Farhan, who presented a detailed overview of the latest AI-powered tools and algorithms. He also demonstrated practical applications showcasing how automation can enhance research output by improving accuracy, reducing analysis time, and increasing overall efficiency.
The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, who, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of such scientific initiatives in strengthening researchers’ capacities and ensuring alignment with global trends in research and development.
This workshop represents a strategic step within the College’s ongoing efforts to support digital transformation and empower researchers to adopt advanced technological solutions that keep pace with the latest developments in scientific research.
