Awareness Seminar on “Drugs and Their Impact on the Individual and Society”
Under the patronage and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, and as part of the series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the University Psychological Counseling Unit, the College held an important educational seminar entitled *“Drugs and Their Impact on the Individual and Society.”*
The seminar was delivered by a distinguished group of specialists from the Anbar Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, including Senior Translator Mr. Waleed Khalid Mohammed, Director of the Anbar Narcotics Training Division, and Legal Advisor Mr. Marwan Mohammed Abdullah, Head of the Directorate’s Relations and Media Division.
The seminar primarily aimed to raise students’ awareness and protect them against the serious threat of drug abuse, which poses a danger to societal stability. The speakers provided a detailed explanation of the causes and motivations behind substance abuse, the severe psychological, physical, and social consequences of this phenomenon, as well as the legal implications and deterrent measures adopted by the competent authorities to curb its spread.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean of the College expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the distinguished speakers and to the Anbar Directorate of Narcotics Affairs for their fruitful cooperation and national efforts in promoting awareness among university youth. He reaffirmed the College’s continued commitment to organizing such purposeful initiatives, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to protect students and prepare a conscious and responsible generation capable of confronting challenges and serving the nation.
