Comprehensive awareness workshop entitled "Domestic Violence: Challenges and Solutions to Protect Women and Children"

 In an important step towards enhancing community awareness of the problem of domestic violence, the Women's Affairs Unit organized a comprehensive awareness workshop entitled "Domestic Violence: Challenges and Solutions to Protect Women and Children". The workshop was held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Jabir Bin Hayyan Hall, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Esmat Ramzy Abdel Ghafour, along with a group of professors and students. The workshop topic was presented by Dr. Wissam Qahir Abdel Latif, a lecturer in the Physics Department, with a group of college students, where she gave a detailed presentation on the phenomenon of domestic violence, reviewing its dimensions, causes, and negative effects on society. In her lecture, Dr. Wissam addressed the psychological, social, and legal aspects of domestic violence, and highlighted the importance of the role of society in combating this phenomenon. The workshop was moderated by Dr. Yasra Mahmoud Hammadi, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit. The student Mahmoud Wadih gave a lecture in which he focused on violence against children, while the student Ruqayya Mujahid explained cases of violence against women and statistics on the number of cases of violence annually in the lecture she gave in the workshop.

 
This workshop aims to achieve several goals, including raising awareness among students about the dangers of domestic violence, providing students with the necessary knowledge to identify signs of domestic violence and how to deal with it, encouraging students to report cases of domestic violence, in addition to enabling students to play an effective role in combating domestic violence in their community.
 
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Science thanked everyone who contributed to this workshop, saying (I thank everyone who contributed to the success of this important workshop, which comes within our interests in educating our society about the dangers of domestic violence.
