The Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division, organized an awareness workshop on "The Dangers of Biotechnology, Genetically Modified Foods, and Food Contamination on Women's Health." The workshop was held in Jabir Bin Hayyan Hall on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, and was attended by a group of College members, researchers, and students at the college.

The workshop was given by Assistant Professor Laith Musleh Najib, Assistant Professor Huda Musleh Mahmoud, and Assistant Professor Sarah Imad Hajoul. The workshop aimed to educate participants on the importance of choosing healthy foods and avoiding genetically modified foods and harmful preservatives, especially since these substances may negatively affect women's health, especially the health of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. The workshop discussed in detail the potential health effects of these substances on the body's organs, in addition to their effect on the health of the fetus of a pregnant woman. The workshop came out with several important recommendations, including: (the need to conduct more studies and research on the effects of genetically modified foods on human health, the importance of educating society about the dangers of these foods and the need to choose fresh and organic foods as much as possible by publishing awareness posters, and the need to establish strict legislation to control food quality and protect the consumer).
