A ministerial committee visits the College of Science in preparation to opening master's program in "microbiology."

 On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the College of Science received a delegation from the ministerial committee tasked with studying the development of graduate programs at Iraqi universities. The visit aimed to assess the college's Biology Department's readiness to launch a new graduate program (Master's) in microbiology.

The ministerial committee was received by the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, the Head of the Biology Department, Professor Dr. Muhammad Qais Abdul, and a number of faculty members.
During the visit, the ministerial committee reviewed the infrastructure of the Life Sciences Department, including the equipped scientific laboratories, classrooms, library, and available research resources. The committee also heard a detailed presentation by the Head of the Department and faculty members on the proposed academic plan for the Master's program, the curricula, and the teaching competencies specialized in the field of microbiology.
The ministerial committee's discussions focused on assessing the department's compliance with the national and international standards required to launch a robust graduate program, ensuring quality education and outstanding learning outcomes. For his part, the Dean of the College of Science said, "We are confident that the Department of Life Sciences possesses all the necessary capabilities to launch a distinguished Master's program in Microbiology. This visit represents an important step toward achieving this goal, which we seek to develop the college and enhance its research and academic capabilities."
