Civil Engineering students visit the Geology Department at the College of Science to enhance scientific integration.

 A delegation from the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering made a distinguished scientific visit to the Applied Geology Department at the College of Science on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The delegation was accompanied by Assistant Professor Dr. Mu'ayyad Abdul-Jabbar Ahmed and Assistant Lecturer Hadeel Saleh Sulaiman.

The visit aimed to enhance the engineering knowledge of civil engineering students by providing them with a closer understanding of the most important types of rocks and their industrial uses in the field of engineering geology. The meeting provided the delegation with the opportunity to view various rock samples and understand their physical and mechanical properties, which are vital for engineering applications in construction projects.
The delegation was received by Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Hafez Diab, and Assistant Professor Nizar Zidan Khalaf explained the different types of rocks. He also gave a comprehensive scientific presentation on the nature of rock samples and the analytical methods used in their classification, in addition to reviewing their various industrial uses in the engineering sector.
