College of Science Adopts Urban Agriculture to Enhance Its Campus Environment
In line with the directives of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, and on the occasion of the new academic year—while also aligning with the guidance of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Presidency of the University of Anbar—the College of Science has launched an urban agriculture initiative within its courtyards. The project aims to make use of available spaces across the College by cultivating a wide variety of plants, thereby contributing to the beautification of the campus and the creation of green spaces. As part of the initiative, a large number of ornamental and urban plants were planted throughout the College courtyards, adding vibrancy and aesthetic value. Beyond its visual appeal, the project is intended to raise environmental awareness among students and staff, demonstrating how unused spaces can be transformed into fertile and productive environments. Importantly, the initiative is not confined to aesthetic goals. It also seeks to serve as a foundation for future research and scientific projects in the fields of urban agriculture and environmental sustainability. Through this initiative, the College aims to reinforce the concept of sustainability as an integral part of its educational and research mission.
