College of Science Council Holds Part Two of Its First Open Session: Intensive Preparations for the New Academic Year

The College of Science convened the second part of its first open council session on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, chaired by the Dean, Professor Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, with the attendance of all council members. The session focused on several key themes, most notably preparations for the upcoming academic year and ensuring the quality of the educational process.

As part of the meeting, the Council hosted Assist. Prof. Dr. Thamer Yousif Matar, Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, and Assist. Lectur. Omar Kareem Ali, Coordinator of the International Rankings Unit in the College. Their participation aimed to review current requirements and discuss the challenges facing the College in these areas. The discussions sought to develop practical solutions to all identified issues, with the ultimate goal of enhancing academic performance and meeting the highest standards of quality, thereby strengthening the College’s position in both local and international rankings.

In preparation for the new academic year, the Council also discussed several measures to ensure readiness for welcoming students. Among the topics addressed was the issue of the student uniform, regarded as a symbol of university identity and a means of reinforcing discipline on campus. The Council further emphasized the importance of providing facilities that ensure comfort and well-being for students, thereby fostering a motivating learning environment.

 

The session also highlighted the significant efforts undertaken by the College during the summer break, which included extensive projects in infrastructure development and urban agriculture. These initiatives have enhanced the campus environment, adding beauty and vitality to its facilities, and creating an attractive and comfortable setting for both students and faculty members. Such improvements demonstrate the College’s strong commitment to providing the best possible conditions for its community.
