College of Science Shines in University Championships: First Place in Weightlifting and Second Place in Women’s Chess

The College of Science achieved a remarkable dual accomplishment in the sports championships organized by the Department of Student Activities at the University Presidency, reaffirming its excellence not only in the academic arena but also in athletics.

The College of Science team secured first place at the university level in the strength sports championship (weightlifting), where participating students demonstrated outstanding physical strength, technical skill, and competitive performance, earning them the top position in the tournament. The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour, commended this achievement, highlighting that it reflects the team’s discipline, commitment, and rigorous training.

In parallel, excellence extended beyond physical strength, as female students of the College of Science excelled in the women’s chess championship, achieving second place at the university level. This accomplishment stands as clear evidence of their intellectual aptitude, strategic thinking, and analytical skills, adding another distinguished achievement to the college’s athletic record.

Together, these results underscore the College of Science’s holistic approach to student development—integrating intellectual excellence, physical strength, and scientific knowledge within a dynamic university environment.
