Dean of the College of Science Participates in a Ministerial Meeting to Discuss "Artificial Intelligence Curricula for Postgraduate Studies"
Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul-Ghafoor, Dean of the College of Science, participated in an expanded meeting held at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Research and Development Directorate, on Thursday, 23 October 2025, to discuss recent developments related to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) curricula into postgraduate programs.
The meeting, which also included the Deans of the Colleges of Science from the Universities of Mosul, Kufa, and Al-Qadisiyah, represents a strategic step toward updating and developing academic curricula to keep pace with rapid global advancements in technology. Discussions focused on establishing a unified framework for incorporating AI concepts and applications into Master’s and PhD programs across scientific departments, with the aim of graduating highly qualified researchers equipped with skills aligned with labor market demands and development needs.
Professor Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul-Ghafoor emphasized the importance of moving forward with this modernization, affirming the College of Science at the University of Anbar’s commitment to implementing the meeting’s recommendations. He noted that these efforts will contribute to enhancing the scientific and research standards of the College and the University, and to strengthening their role in supporting digital transformation initiatives in Iraq.
Participants discussed several key proposals, including:
Defining the core curricular components required to ensure comprehensive understanding of AI foundations and applications.
Establishing specialized committees to develop frameworks and benchmarks for curriculum design.
Emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration between Colleges of Science and other disciplines to effectively integrate AI concepts.
