The College of Science Council Holds Its Fourth Open Session (Part I)
The College of Science Council** convened its fourth open session (Part I) for the current academic year on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, chaired by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafoor**, with the attendance of all council members.
At the outset, the Dean welcomed the members and commended the efforts exerted in managing the academic and administrative processes. The Council then discussed a number of items listed on the agenda, all aimed at enhancing the College’s academic and scientific performance.
The session addressed and approved several important files, foremost among them the review and endorsement of academic promotion applications for a number of faculty members to various academic ranks, thereby strengthening the scientific rigor of the teaching staff. With regard to postgraduate programs, the Council discussed postgrad6uate students’ results, approved the courses allocated for the second semester, and followed up on the formation of thesis and dissertation examination committees, emphasizing strict adherence to precise scientific standards.
In addition, the Council discussed matters related to academic and student affairs, including guidance on pass rates in line with approved criteria, and reaffirmed the importance of exam question quality, clarity, and comprehensive coverage of course content. The Council also reviewed the preparations and arrangements for the commencement of the second semester** to ensure a smooth and efficient academic process.
The session concluded with deliberations on other miscellaneous items included on the agenda, and the adoption of the necessary decisions and recommendations accordingly.
