Innovative Laser-Based Technique for Advancing Photodetectors: A Distinguished Research Publication from the University of Anbar in "Nature Scientific Reports"
In a notable scientific achievement reflecting the growing strength of research output at the College of Science in general—and the Department of Physics in particular—the third research paper derived from the doctoral dissertation of Dr. Ahmed Mudhafar Ahmed, a faculty member in the department, has been published in the internationally recognized journal "Scientific Reports" (Nature Portfolio), ranked within the first quartile (Q1).
The significance of this study, entitled:
“Facile fabrication of porous BixSy/Si photodetectors by one step laser ablation in liquid”
lies in its presentation of an innovative and simplified fabrication methodology for high-efficiency photodetectors based on porous BixSy compounds deposited on silicon substrates. The research successfully employed a one-step laser ablation in liquid technique, an advanced approach that enables the production of nanomaterials with enhanced optical and electrical properties. This method opens promising avenues for the development of photodetectors and optoelectronic applications with improved efficiency and reduced manufacturing costs.
This distinguished publication represents the culmination of a rigorous research pathway conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdul Ghafour and Prof. Dr. Raed Abdulwahab Ismail. Their academic guidance has led to the publication of three Q1 papers from a single doctoral dissertation, constituting a significant contribution to the University of Anbar’s record within international indexing databases such as Scopus and Clarivate.
